Day 1
Early morning pick-up at your hotel or guest house in the Mother City. Our first stop today will be the stunning family run wine estate of Hartenberg, with personalized service and amazing scenery to boot. We then take the short scenic drive to Stellenbosch, with its historical old Cape Dutch architecture and vibrant student life. We have the chance to walk along the popular Dorp Street and perhaps get in a bit of curio shopping.
We take Hellshoogte Pass to Thelema wine estate, where we enjoy our second wine tasting of the day. This estate has great views of the Groot Drakenstein and Jonkershoek Mountains. This is followed by a picnic lunch at the impressive Boschendal estate and a walk through the gardens and museum.
Our luxury accommodation awaits. After booking in, there is the option of just lazing around the pool or strolling through the quaint little town of Franschhoek. Late afternoon sundowners will be had at Mont Rochelle, the boutique hotel with fabulous views of the valley below. Dinner will be at one of the many restaurants that this town is famous for.
Day 2
A nice relaxed start! After breakfast we visit the Huguenot Museum and rose garden, followed by a cellar tour and wine tasting at Haute Cabriere. This estate is well known for their superb sparkling wines. A further wine tasting will take place at the award winning Rickety Bridge winery and then we will enjoy a light lunch at a local cafe.
There is more wine to be had! We head out to one of the area's best kept secrets, Boekenhoutskloof. Great wines and great atmosphere. For those who want to spoil themselves a bit there is an opportunity to visit the amazing Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa, where you can enjoy one of the many treatments on offer. Dinner in town.
Day 3
Another relaxed start. After breakfast we head out to the Paarl wine region. First port of call will be Backsberg, this cellar produces really impressive wines and we get the opportunity to sample a few. Our next stop is the KWV Wine Emporium where we sample splendid brandies and Belgium chocolates. Lunch will be a cheese platter at the Goat Tower, washed down with good Fairview wine.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end and our tour finishes on arrival in Cape Town.
